Take One: Action

Friends of the Earth Scotland is proud to be joining up with a host of campaigning organisations such as Oxfam, Christian Aid and the World Development Movement to present Take One: Action - the first film festival which celebrates people and films that are changing the world.

The festival looks at Scotland's global connections - from South Africa to Nicaragua - and explores global challenges in which Scotland has a vital role to play - from climate change to the rules about how poor nations trade.

The exciting programme features new and classic films, director and campaigner Q&As, audience discussions, video-making workshops and special events for schools. Above all, it is a unique chance for audiences to find out about and get involved with the work of Scottish change-makers - from film activists to environmental and social justiceorganisations.

Friends of the Earth Scotland will be presenting two films at the festival. The first is Erin Brockovich on the 20 September - an Oscar winning true story about an activist who took on corporate giants and won. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with a set of real life Scottish Erin Brockovichs - people who have made a real difference in their communities.

Our second film is the magnificent Koyaanisqatsi - an lush, epic documentary which takes you on a journey from a pristine natural world to one which is increasingly out of balance. A live score will be performed on the night by Edinburgh's Urban Farm Hand making it a performance not to be missed.
