Holyrood will today be visited by a group of penguins who have brought a chunk of their dwindling habitat with them in a bid to save the humans from climate chaos.

The penguins, assisted by Friends of the Earth Scotland, will create an entire antarctic scene consisting of snow covered ground, giant icebergs and snow machines whipping up a real blizzard.

The seven penguins will plead Scottish politicians to "Save the humans".

The penguins are visiting the Scottish Parliament to warn politicians that humans will face the same fate as the threatened emperor penguins [1] if they fail to act quickly on climate change by delivering a strong Scottish Climate Change Bill, which is currently travelling through Parliament.

Corinne Evans, Head of Campaigns at Friends of the Earth Scotland, said:

"We're honoured that these animals have taken time out from fighting for their own survival to come to remind us that we don't have to suffer the same fate. The message is clear: we need urgent action on climate change, and we need the MSPs in the Paliament to rise to the challenge and make sure we have it."

"This year will see the Scottish Climate Bill become law. We need to make sure it's toughened up to avoid climate chaos - we hope the march of the penguins gets through to the MSPs in Holyrood. People can add their own voice to the penguins' calls by writing to their MSP at bigaskscotland.org.uk."

"The world's eyes are on Scotland - a strong law here will have a massive knock-on effect on forthcoming laws around the world."
