The Scottish Climate Bill is gaining momentum and we need your help
The Scottish Climate Bill will soon be making its way through Parliament. We have an opportunity to make it legislation to show the world what is possible, but to do it we need your help.
Call for a strong Scottish Climate Bill
We need to make sure that the Scottish Climate Bill really delivers what it intends - reducing our emissions in an effective and sustained way.
To acheive this we have three key asks for the Bill:
All sources of gases that cause climate change need to be included inthe Bill. This includes sources like international flights andshipping, and also includes gases such as methane and nitrous oxide.
We need to set a limit on the actual volume of climate changing gases we produce up to 2050. If we are to stand a reasonable chance of avoiding catastrophic climate change, we must ensure we do notexceed this amount.
There need to be strong incentives and sanctions on public bodies to make real cuts in emissions.
Because we now have a minority parliament, where no single party can do as it pleases, we need to convince MSPs from all parties to take this seriously. Please send an email today to ask the party leaders in the Scottish Parliament to agree to the asks. It will only take a couple of minutes.
