Isn't there already a UK Climate Change Bill?

Yes - the UK Climate Change Bill is currently making its way through the Parliament at Westminster and should become law later this year. We're still currently fighting hard as part of the original Big Ask UK-wide campaign, along with our colleagues at Friends of the Earth (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) for a strong UK Climate Bill.

However, there is now a Scottish Climate Change Bill just starting to make it's way through Holyrood. This will work in addition to the UK Bill, and we've got a chance here to ensure Scotland has even more effective legislation than the rest of the UK.

We have a chance in Scotland to show the world what can be acheived through a strong climate legislation, so that's why it's worth fighting for a strong Bill here.
