Big Ask Scotland Asks
Big Ask Scotland - No loopholes

We are asking three things of the legislation:

1. Include all emissions

At the moment there is still a chance that the Bill will not include all of Scotland's climate changing emissions. These include those from sources like international flights and shipping, and also other gases such as methane - which all have a huge impact. For the bill to work we can't leave anything out.

2. Place a limit on emissions up to 2050

There is only a certain amount of climate changing emissions that our planet can handle. We need to work out the amount of these gases that we can release up until 2050, and make sure we don't exceed it. Just to state a final target is not enough - it's how we get there that counts.

3. Create a Climate Super Fund

This would divide up all of Scotland's emissions, and make various public bodies and Government departments responsible for them. For example, the transport department might be responsible for all emissions from transport. If a body is not reducing the emissions they are responsible for, they will be fined. This money will be then used to pay for other projects or bodies that are reducing emissions.
